The Erwin DS is
designed for dynamic soaring, it is built with the stress
level of ds and ease
of flying in mind,it has a carbon glass carbon sandwich,
tape on wings so in case of hard landings they
can eject and an efficient airfoil. |

Closed fuselage for high stability. Crash
landings can normally result in at least partial
damage with any other fuselage construction (nose-cone, canopy).
Thanks to appropriate solutions in the fuselage of Erwin
XL there are no disadvantages for handling. f.e. switch,
load socket on the outside of the fuselage.
Stiff shell wing without CFC-sandwich-construction.
Transport and landings in rough terrain won't create
permanent dents on the wing as is the case with
sandwich-constructions. All that remains are possibly some
scratches. Upper side with paint, available in white, yellow
and red, underside in visible carbon
The wing is mounted with tape to create
a defined breaking point. After some initial scepticism
this fixing solution has been fully tested and approved
from feedback of our 2m-Erwin-customers. If
you have a hard landing, the wing loosens from the fuselage
and in most cases there is nearly no damage. Many Erwin-lifes
have already been saved by this way of mounting.
For use ifrom flat fields we offer the option
to mount the wing with screws.
